If you could have any superpower, what would it be?
“If you could have any superpower, what would it be? And why?” That was one of the questions asked in the interview I had for my current position. For me, there was no additional thought required for that answer.
To fly, be invisible, to run superfast…?
I know many who would say that they’d want either the ability to fly, remain invisible, or run superfast. Having the ability to fly would be very convenient and a lot of fun. Being able to fly over to a friend’s, get around traffic, maybe fly to another state or country. The ability to fly would save on money for gas, an uber, taxi, or any other rideshare program. There’d also be no need to wait in line at the airport.
Of course, all of that is predicated on the basis that you’d fly everywhere. But, in all honesty, that’s not always practical. It would be hard to fly to the grocery store for anything more than a few items. Trying to transport several bags might not be the ideal situation.
Then again, someone would probably create a carrying contraption. It would need to be designed in such a way to allow the individual to transport bags of groceries, suitcases, or even other people.
In other words, I understand wanting the superpower of the ability to fly. Unfortunately, I’m not sure I understand the reasoning behind being invisible. To have the ability to go unnoticed for either innocent or nefarious reasons. Either way, it could be seen as creepy.
Having the ability to run superfast might be fun for a while. Eventually, you’ll come to realize that you’re always running into obstacles. Then you’d realize that it might be better to fly over them instead.
Intelligence
When asked the superpower question, my answer was simple yet quite complex. “I would want the intelligence of Tony Stark.” I further explained, “Tony built Iron Man. A personal suit of armor that could fly. And he was intelligent enough to become a billionaire. So if I could have any superpower, it would be to have the intelligence of Tony Stark.”
As we know, Tony Stark has some serious personality flaws. His narcissistic tendencies, playboy mentality, and overall self-centeredness. Putting those aside, the intellectual capacity he had to create a personal flying suit, and a personalized artificial intelligence (Jarvis), in reality, would be leaps and bounds above even the most brilliant minds the world has ever seen.
Just as with the ability to fly, the Iron Man suit might not be all that practical. With the hands being propulsions just as the feet, one couldn’t carry much of anything. But it would be super cool.
While in the suit, you wouldn’t have to worry about varying weather patterns or atmospheric changes. Additionally, it could serve as a great military weapon that would deter any foreign (or domestic) enemies trying to cause harm to our country and our way of life.
Thank you very much for sharing, I learned a lot from your article. Very cool. Thanks.
