Groups listed as “Christian” artists who deny God’s Word

We’ve all had to make tough decisions in life. And if you haven’t had to yet, your time will come soon enough.

Some decisions are much easier than others. What to eat or wear. Who to be friends with or not. And whether Die Hard is a Christmas movie or a movie that takes place at Christmas time.

Tougher decisions tend to involve life-altering results. A few examples include whether or not to get married, have children, move to a different state, go into business for yourself, etc.

And then there are decisions that seem super easy to some of us while confusing to others. Like whether to go with or against what the Bible says.

Take the woke agenda Satan has orchestrated that’s primarily centered around the LGBTQ+ ideology. The Bible is very clear on the subject. In both the Old and New Testaments.

“Do not practice homosexuality, having sex with another man as with a woman. It is a detestable sin.”Leviticus 18:22

“If a man practices homosexuality, having sex with another man as with a woman, both men have committed a detestable act. They must both be put to death, for they are guilty of a capital offense.”Leviticus 20:13

“They traded the truth about God for a lie. So they worshiped and served the things God created instead of the Creator himself, who is worthy of eternal praise! Amen. 26 That is why God abandoned them to their shameful desires. Even the women turned against the natural way to have sex and instead indulged in sex with each other. 27 And the men, instead of having normal sexual relations with women, burned with lust for each other. Men did shameful things with other men, and as a result of this sin, they suffered within themselves the penalty they deserved.

“28 Since they thought it foolish to acknowledge God, he abandoned them to their foolish thinking and let them do things that should never be done. 29 Their lives became full of every kind of wickedness, sin, greed, hate, envy, murder, quarreling, deception, malicious behavior, and gossip. 30 They are backstabbers, haters of God, insolent, proud, and boastful. They invent new ways of sinning, and they disobey their parents. 31 They refuse to understand, break their promises, are heartless, and have no mercy. 32 They know God’s justice requires that those who do these things deserve to die, yet they do them anyway. Worse yet, they encourage others to do them, too.Romans 1:25-32

“Don’t you realize that those who do wrong will not inherit the Kingdom of God? Don’t fool yourselves. Those who indulge in sexual sin, or who worship idols, or commit adultery, or are male prostitutes, or practice homosexuality, 10 or are thieves, or greedy people, or drunkards, or are abusive, or cheat people—none of these will inherit the Kingdom of God. 11 Some of you were once like that. But you were cleansed; you were made holy; you were made right with God by calling on the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God.” 1 Corinthians 6:9-11

“We also know that the law is made not for the righteous but for lawbreakers and rebels, the ungodly and sinful, the unholy and irreligious, for those who kill their fathers or mothers, for murderers, for the sexually immoral, for those practicing homosexuality, for slave traders and liars and perjurers—and for whatever else is contrary to the sound doctrine.”1 Timothy 1:9-10

Of course, those who support that ideology aren’t the only ones on this list. But they make up the majority of them.

When going through this article, it’s important that we remember that we’re all sinners in need of the Savior.

“For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.” Romans 3:23

The following is just a sample of so-called Christian artists who either deny or defy God’s Word.

Lauren Daigle

Lauren Daigle Explains Losing Her Religion On New Album | Ambo TV

Lauren, once an up-and-comer in the Contemporary Christian Music (CCM) scene, has since made her bed and rebranded herself. She made the move from CCM to secular music.

Most of us knew she wasn’t really a Christian anyway. Not just for her appearance on the Ellen DeGeneres show.

And not just for her stance in support of homosexuality. But in her own words, she says she’s not a Christian artist. So, why is she still listed as one?

Jars of Clay

Jars of Clay

Back in 2014, Jars of Clay got into some trouble when the front man Dan Haseltine, went to Twitter in support of gay marriage.

By 2021, the group had leaned into that belief and announced that they were pro-LGBTQ, pro-trans, and pro-choice.

Sorry, but I simply don’t believe that a person can believe in and support support things that blatantly defy God’s Word and call themselves a Christian. This goes for the political spectrum too.

Relient K

Relient K

As far as I’m aware, Relient K was never very popular. They have a Christmas song that used to play on one of my Pandora stations. Beyond that, I’d be hard-pressed to name even a single song of theirs.

I knew so little about them, that I had spelt their name with an “a” instead of an “e.”

Nonetheless, they’ve denied God’s Word and thrown their hats in with the woke society.

Another LGBTQ+ affirming group.

Carrie Underwood

Carrie Underwood

In my opinion, Carrie Underwood is not a Christian artist. She’s a country singer who claims to be a Christian. However, the people she surrounds herself with and the way she conducts herself might cause someone to question that. And yet, she’s categorized as a Christian artist.

She might be a very nice person. Then again, there are a lot of nice Atheists, Buddhists, Satanists, and members of just about every other religion too.

At the grocery store one day, I saw the cover of the “Carrie Underwood” magazine. What caught my attention was not the slogan, “From Idol to Icon.” Though that should be enough right there to cause one to pause. Because even if she didn’t write that, she had to approve of it.

“For those who exalt themselves will be humbled, and those who humble themselves will be exalted.”Matthew 23:12

What caught my attention was the outfit she was wearing. Carrie has been known to wear some rather sexy and revealing clothing choices. Consider the outfits she’s worn at performances and various award shows. Here are just a few I found.

“I also want the women to dress modestly, with decency and propriety, adorning themselves, not with elaborate hairstyles or gold or pearls or expensive clothes, but with good deeds, appropriate for women who profess to worship God.”1 Timothy 2:9-10

Even though she started out as a “Christian” who sang Country Music, she’s since crossed over into Christian Music when she released her full-length Gospel album “My Savior.”

If you want to be a Christian artist, you should adhere to the principles and teachings of Christianity. Unfortunately for her, actions speak louder than words.

Are you supporting them?

Whenever a person goes to one of the following artist’s concerts, buys their merchandise (clothing and/or music), or watch one of their videos on YouTube (ad supported) they’re providing financial support for these artists and their beliefs.

The same holds true if you listen to one of their songs on Pandora or Spotify, or even sing one of their songs in your church, you’re supporting these artists and their churches. That’s because of music copyrights.

Music Copyrights

“The Copyright Law of the United States, Title 17 USC, establishes property rights in musical works and grants creators and owners of copyrighted musical works several specific rights, including the exclusive right to perform or authorize the performance of their works publicly (17 U.S.C. 106(4)). This means that, generally, no one can publicly perform copyrighted works without the permission of the copyright owner, and, as is the case with other property rights, the owner has the right to be paid for the use of his property.”

Which begs the question, how long does the copyright of the song last?

“Songs composed in the United States after 1976 are protected under federal copyright law, so long as they are fixed in a tangible medium of expression (recording, sheet music, etc.). This copyright lasts for the life of the author, plus 70 years. The goal is to protect an author’s works and maintain the integrity of those works, without compromising the original intent.”

Exception to the rule:

There is an exception for churches in this. Based on the religious exemption, a church can rebroadcast the music as long as it doesn’t go beyond the walls of the building.

In other words, if the service is recorded and rebroadcasted on the radio, YouTube, even their own website, a royalty must be paid to the artist(s). Otherwise, they’re in violation of copyright law.

“For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, so that each one may be recompensed for his deeds in the body, according to what he has done, whether good or bad.”2 Corinthians 5:10
