Has Satan infiltrated and overtaken the Christian church?
Do you believe Satan exists? If not, you’re not alone.
According to the Christian Post, only 35% of American Christians believe he exists. Then again, based on a survey from Christian News, only 9% of American Christians read their Bibles on a daily basis. With that knowledge, it makes sense why so many don’t believe he exists.
Nonetheless, Satan is no stranger to Christianity. He’s well-known as a real figure in the Bible and biblical history. And his influence is felt far and wide still today.
“’How you are fallen from heaven, O shining star, son of the morning! You have been thrown down to the earth, you who destroyed the nations of the world. For you said to yourself, ‘I will ascend to heaven and set my throne above God’s stars. I will preside on the mountain of the gods far away in the north. I will climb to the highest heavens and be like the Most High.’” – Isaiah 14:12-14
“Then there was war in heaven. Michael and his angels fought against the dragon and his angels. And the dragon lost the battle, and he and his angels were forced out of heaven. This great dragon—the ancient serpent called the devil, or Satan, the one deceiving the whole world—was thrown down to the earth with all his angels.” – Revelation 12:7-9
Since the majority of Christians don’t believe in Satan, how are we supposed to combat and beat him? If we don’t know and/or can’t define our enemy, we can’t defeat them.
Which leads me to my next question. If most Christians don’t believe in him, is it possible that he’s made his way into their churches?
If you’ve read my article, Satan and the Catholic Church you know about Satan and Catholicism. But what about Christianity? Has the Christian Church been compromised as well?
Satan Exists – Whether You Believe It Or Not
Whether you believe Satan exists (or ever existed) is irrelevant. The same as whether or not someone chooses to believe in a lie. Just because someone falls for the lie (believes in it) doesn’t make it true.
And there are a lot of lies coming out of the mouths of people claiming to be Christians. Both men and women. But they originated with Satan (aka the devil, the great deceiver, the evil one, the dragon, Lucifer, and more).
“Don’t be so easily shaken or alarmed by those who say that the day of the Lord has already begun. Don’t believe them, even if they claim to have had a spiritual vision, a revelation, or a letter supposedly from us. Don’t be fooled by what they say. For that day will not come until there is a great rebellion against God and the man of lawlessness is revealed—the one who brings destruction. He will exalt himself and defy everything that people call god and every object of worship. He will even sit in the temple of God, claiming that he himself is God.” – 2 Thessalonians 2:2-4

In the book of Acts (aka Acts of the Apostles), Paul warned the elders of the church in Ephesus that many would come from outside to speak a false gospel. And some would even come up from within.
“So guard yourselves and God’s people. Feed and shepherd God’s flock—his church, purchased with his own blood—over which the Holy Spirit has appointed you as leaders. I know that false teachers, like vicious wolves, will come in among you after I leave, not sparing the flock. Even some men from your own group will rise up and distort the truth in order to draw a following.” – Acts 20:28-30
Before Paul came on the scene, Jesus also warned of it during His ministry.
Jesus speaking, he said,
“Beware of false prophets who come disguised as harmless sheep but are really vicious wolves. You can identify them by their fruit, that is, by the way they act. Can you pick grapes from thornbushes, or figs from thistles? A good tree produces good fruit, and a bad tree produces bad fruit. A good tree can’t produce bad fruit, and a bad tree can’t produce good fruit. So every tree that does not produce good fruit is chopped down and thrown into the fire. Yes, just as you can identify a tree by its fruit, so you can identify people by their actions.” – Matthew 7:15-20
What do you think, has Satan infiltrated the Christian Church?
The answer to that question is complicated.
I say it’s complicated because Christianity itself has not been compromised. But certain denominations of the religion have.
Please understand, that this is not a complete list of all the heresies that have crept into the Christian Church. That’s why it’s so important to test what’s being taught against the Word of God.
Let me start with the United Methodist Church.
United Methodist Church
The United Methodist Church was established in 1968. And they’ve been ordaining women pastors ever since.
“Women should learn quietly and submissively. I do not let women teach men or have authority over them. Let them listen quietly. For God made Adam first, and afterward he made Eve. And it was not Adam who was deceived by Satan. The woman was deceived, and sin was the result.” – 1 Timothy 2:11-14
“Women should be silent during the church meetings. It is not proper for them to speak. They should be submissive, just as the law says. If they have any questions, they should ask their husbands at home, for it is improper for women to speak in church meetings.” – 1 Corinthians 14:34-35
Now, however, they’ve not only been ordaining openly homosexual men and women to the pulpit. But, as seen in numerous videos, they’re also having drag queen shows in them (with children involved).
The LBGTQ+ agenda has the work of Satan all over it. Starting with stealing the rainbow and removing one color for their symbol.
In the book of Genesis, we learn that God chose the rainbow as a sign to the human race to never destroy the Earth again through a great flood. A sign to all people, not just the Jews.
But the homosexual community has decided to commandeer it for their perversion.
“Whoever causes one of these little ones who believe in me to sin, it would be better for him to have a great millstone fastened around his neck and to be drowned in the depth of the sea.” – Matthew 18:6

Modern Christian Music
There’s no doubt that Satan has infiltrated the modern Christian music scene.
Christian music has come a long way since the days of Rich Mullins, Michael W. Smith, Amy Grant, and Sandi Patty of the 1980s and ‘90s.
In some ways, the music has gotten a lot better. The sound and rhythm have really advanced. They’ve learned from secular music what sounds good and what sells.
At the same time, many of the artists in the industry have become compromised along the way. They’ve sought after the desires of man rather than that of God.
As human beings, Christian or not, we’ve all sinned and fall short of the Glory of God (Romans 3:23). At the same time, as Christians we’re held at a higher standard by society.
The world is always looking for ways that Christians mess up. Of course, it’s not so with any other religion.
Therefore, it’s imperative that if an artist wants to make a stand for their faith, I say that’s awesome. But understand, that also means you have to hold yourself to a higher standard.
Why? Because like it or not, you’re going to be singing lyrics that people will undoubtedly hold as gospel. In other words, Christian artists are teaching God’s Word.
“Not many of you should become teachers, my fellow believers, because you know that we who teach will be judged more strictly.” – James 3:1
Unfortunately, I think many of the so-called Christian artists today saw a desire by so many for better music. Seeing the opportunity, they swooped in with their secular-style music and Christianized it.
According to the site Christianity Today,
“As churches worldwide sing, play, and live-stream songs like “Lion and the Lamb,” “How Great Is Our God,” and “10,000 Reasons (Bless the Lord),” the popularity of these songs has ushered Christian music further into the mainstream music industry and the vast economic ecosystem adjusting to make a profit in a new era.
“Trends toward IP acquisition, lucrative arena tours, and corporate consolidation have helped drive record-setting revenues over the past two years—the touring industry saw $6.28 billion in 2022, and recording revenues in the US reached an all-time high of $15.9 billion, growing for the seventh consecutive year.”
I’m not against Christian artists making a good living. Afterall, Paul said in 1 Timothy 5,
“Elders who do their work well should be respected and paid well, especially those who work hard at both preaching and teaching. For the Scripture says, ‘You must not muzzle an ox to keep it from eating as it treads out the grain.’ And in another place, ‘Those who work deserve their pay!’” – 1 Timothy 5:17-18
This passage of scripture specifically addresses paying pastors/elders/bishops (all titles that are synonymous with each other) for their work. If Christian artists are teaching the Word of God through song, then they should be compensated for their efforts.
However, there are many artists who’ve compromised their beliefs and misrepresent the Word of God. Either in their lyrics, the teaching in their churches, or in their personal lives.
Many of the Christian artists of today may have good music. But it’s either not biblical or it comes from a non-biblical place.
“Watch out for false prophets. They come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ferocious wolves. By their fruit you will recognize them. Do people pick grapes from thorn bushes, or figs from thistles? Likewise, every good tree bears good fruit, but a bad tree bears bad fruit. A good tree cannot bear bad fruit, and a bad tree cannot bear good fruit. Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. Thus, by their fruit you will recognize them.” – Matthew 7:15-20
The way these compromised artists are so successful because their lyrics align with scripture. Therefore, it’s imperative that we remember, the best lies are based on truth.
Satan is known as the deceiver and thief who comes to steal, kill, and destroy (John 10:10). And he has infiltrated the Christian church.
How can we battle against him? By diving into the Word and knowing the Truth. For there is only one Truth and His name is Jesus Christ.
“Jesus said to him, ‘I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.’” – John 14:6
