Best Kitchen Knife I’ve Ever Used
Do you have certain items in the kitchen that you absolutely love? Perhaps it’s that special pot or pan that cooks your food just right, without burning it.
Maybe it’s that giant spoon that can be used for just about anything. Or just maybe it’s that coffee mug that you use for anything liquid.
For me, it’s a set of steak knives. But not just any steak knives.
It Slices It Doesn’t Tear
For me, it’s the Cuisinart steak knife.
The reason why I like these knives so much is that I can use them for just about anything. Regardless of the type of food, I’m cutting.
When it comes to meat, they work equally great on a pork roast as they do on a beefsteak. As they work just as great with onion as they do sweet peppers.
Using these knives, they just slice through whatever I’m cutting (hopefully not my finger). And they’re clean slices not torn.
What do I mean? Have you heard of those “never needs sharpening” knives? Do you know why they never need to be sharpened? Because you can’t!
Those knives have serrated edges or outright teeth on them. Because of that, they tear through the food rather than slice it.
Why does that matter? I think it comes down to personal preference. When I’m slicing through the food, I’d rather not have to rip through it. I’d prefer the knife easily cut through the food with minimal effort on my part.
When a serrated-edged knife, requires you to tear through the food. That requires more work than merely slicing through it.
Plus, I love the feel of these knives.
It Fits Perfectly In My Hand
I have good-sized hands. So, I don’t want a small-handled knife that I don’t feel I can have any control over. Rather, I like a handle that fits nicely into my hand. One that is less likely to slip out of it as well.
I can’t say that I’ve ever cut myself cutting food with one of these knives. Nor can I say that one has slipped out of my hand. I can’t say the same for some serrated knives I’ve used.
If I were to ever cut myself though, using one of these knives, it would cut me clean and not tear my skin open. Don’t get me wrong, I don’t want to cut myself. But if it were to happen, and accidents do happen, I’d rather it be with the one that’s easy to close the wound.
It’s Very Easy To Sharpen
Because it’s a straight blade, with no teeth or serration, it’s easy to sharpen.
There are many types of sharpeners out there. Though, they’re all made for straight-edge knives. Since the serrated-edged ones can’t be sharpened. And I’ve tried.
When using a good knife sharpener, these knives easily slide through the groves to give them a nice and sharp blade.
The basic fact is that straight-edge blade knives do get dull over time. And therefore, it’s important to periodically sharpen them. A sharper knife is safer than a dull one.
Plus, a sharp knife requires less force to slice through food than a dull one does.
Just remember, a sharp knife could be considered a dangerous weapon. I’d recommend practicing strict safety measures when handling one.
Like not walking around the kitchen with one. Cutting away from, or in parallel to, your fingers (but never at them).

They’re Not The Expensive Ones
Not only do they slice through food great. Not only do they fit perfectly in my hand. And not only are they easy to sharpen, but they’re also easy on the bank account.
Not long ago, my wife decided to help a friend of a friend out. She was selling those high-end kitchen knives. The ones where the cheapest single knife was $86.
Because my wife felt guilted into it, she went ahead and bought the cheapest one (at $86). WHAT?!?! That’s right! One knife, $86.
Wait, does it cut the food for you? Nope.
Does it vibrate in your hand? Nope.
Is there anything special about it, to make it worth that much? The answer to that question is a resounding, NO!
I don’t even use that knife. First off, it’s too small for my hand. It easily falls out. It’s even slipped out of my wife’s hand, and she ended up cutting herself.
Plus, it has a serrated edge. Another knife that never needs to be sharpened because it can’t be.
My wife is a very compassionate person. So, I’m sure she doesn’t regret that purchase either. Before she even purchased it, I gave my opinion that I didn’t feel it was worth it. But because it has a red handle, and it fits her hand better than mine, she got it and loves it. And that’s all that really matters.
